Beampunk
A downloadable game
- You're a spaceship that emits a huge chargeable laser beam. It hits things in a line!
- Your services are required to protect local planets from invasion
- Jump from system to system fending off more and more intense enemy fleets, earning an upgrade at each one
- Choose the right battles and upgrades to survive and become powerful enough to defeat the final boss
Beampunk is an in-development action roguelite for the Playdate. The crank steers the ship, giving you precise control during intense combat. We're aiming to make it a speedy, streamlined experience that fits tough fights & satisfying progression into quick little sessions.
You can play a demo of the game today showing off an early set of content. We'd love to hear your feedback (and get log files of your playthrough) if you try it out!

Install instructions
Playdate installation instructions can be found at https://help.play.date/games/sideloading/ !
If you have to install a newer version later, we recommend always using the same route to install (i.e. don't switch between web sideload & Data Disk mode approaches) or you'll end up with two copies at once.
How to get your log files after playing:
- Plug the playdate into a computer and put it into Data Disk Mode as described here (on the main menu, hold left + menu + lock for several seconds)
- Open the playdate drive on your computer and navigate to Data/com.beampunk.nectar
- Zip up whatever's in there and email it to info@beampunk.com! đ

This is honestly AMAZING, I love the way this is coming along.
I do think ONLY having the beam is a little hard, we should have a pew pew too!!
Otherwise, I love this. You should join the PD discord and get some feedback from folx in there :)
This thing is really coming along well! Also, great job with the page design!
Thanks man!!
Hi just played the demo.
I think it is an interesseting approach that you cannot thrust and shoot at the same time. Beating the demo was fun. My strat was to get some movement momentum and then turn and shoot. Often ist shoot where I think enemies where off screen Is it intentional that you only see the marker of an enemy off sreen for a short time?
The upgrade where fun and different enemies needed different movement. That ist all very good for a game at that status of its development phase.
I recommend to use the tag playdate so people can find the game easier and post it in the playdate Reddit.
Thanks so much for taking the time to play and comment! We hid the arrows while youâre charging in an attempt to make offscreen âsnipingâ tougher, but maybe itâs a confusing behaviour. Thatâs a great call re tagging as âplaydateâ…!
